materializing aquarium: intravenous

09/07/09

irrigating plants, irrigating us… not suggesting we use old iv tubes.  but it’s worth taking a look at how the systems work — the way gravity is used, the relative ease of exchanging tubes, injecting new liquids, how the valves work. no need for electricity, etc. very simple, very clever. and referencing intravenous tubing, well, it highlights that connection between us and our environment, and helps make that connection by referencing familiar industrialized materials used on a regular basis (again, referencing — not using — for hygiene’s sake…).
