Underwater Magic: Basil Twist’s Symphonie Fantastique

“…like listening to music with your eyes…” (Ben Brantley, New York Times)

The lovely Joey Arias reminded me yesterday of one of the most beautiful “aquariums” I’ve ever seen. An hour-long performance that occurs inside of a specially constructed water tank, Basil Twist‘s Symphonie Fantastique transforms fabric, mirrors, feathers, and bubbles of air as puppeteers manipulate such materials and more to Berlioz’s 19th century composition of the same name.  Enjoy a short video excerpt here.
